The Human TGFβ/BMP Signaling Pathway EpiTect ChIP qPCR Array profiles the histone modification status or “histone code” of 84 genes related to TGF? and BMP-mediated signaling during carcinogenesis. Histone modifications regulate chromatin structure and correlate with the transcriptional activity of associated genes. The TGF? family of signaling molecules includes 4 major signaling pathways: TGF?, bone morphogenic protein (BMP), nodal, and activin. The TGFβ/BMP signaling pathways suppress tumor growth early in oncogenesis, but then stimulate metastasis in later stages. Dysregulation of these signaling pathways during cancer correlates with epigenetic changes, including chromatin structure alterations such as histone deacetylation. This array includes members of the TGF? superfamily and their cytokines and receptors, as well as downstream signaling molecules and target genes. The results of this array can provide the histone modification status of TGF? signaling, which may suggest potential mechanisms of disease progression. Using chromatin immunoprecipitation and this real-time PCR array, research studies can easily and reliably analyze the histone modification patterns associated with a focused gene panel involved in TGF? and BMP-mediated signal transduction.
